Samarium Cobalt Magnets Sm2Co17
The combination of high magnetization and high Curie temperature of Sm2Co17 magnets is what makes them attractive for many applications that require high energy products and long lasting stability when used at temperatures up to 350°C. In addition to Sm and Co, these magnets contain Fe, Cu, and Zr and they present hard magnetic properties when their microstructure consists of a network of cells based on 2/17R phase surrounded by boundaries based on 1/5 phase. The microstructure is obtained by a metallurgical process including sintering, homogenization and annealing.
